on concepts and ideas learned from this course. Relevant concepts from other courses may
also be used to support your design. For this project, develop up to 5 alternatives on a
conceptual level, and select/recommend a best design for further development. No detailed
drawings or calculations are desired – just good sketches/frameworks/flowcharts and new
concepts.
Report Length: About 4 – 6 pages plus appendices (e.g. sketches).
Requirements: Research on existing solutions; develop 3 – 5 alternatives on a
conceptual level; select the best concept that you come up with.
Recommendation: You may wish to use such methods as QFD (quality function
deployment), Design for Excellence (DFX), and Axiomatic Design (AD)
