Professional Nursing Organizations and Engagement
Professional nursing organizations actively support nurses in and out of the workplace. Along with supporting nurses, these organizations often lobby for and support policy changes to improve healthcare practices for both nurses and patients. As a part of these organizations, a nurse can actively participate as a change agent.
In this Assignment, you will consider which professional nursing organization might best fit your political and civic engagement. You will also reflect on how these organizations might impact health equity.

On the webpage, scroll down to the Networking Support section to find a list of professional associations or organizations to consider.
- Research (utilizing the resources provided in this module) a professional nursing organization to discover the group’s civic engagement.
Reflect on the health equity connection between the organization and the engagement.
The Assignment (2-3 pages)
Construct a 2- or 3-page paper in which you explore the political and civic engagement of a professional nursing organization. Provide clear connections to health equity and the impact of the organization.
Reminder: The College of Nursing requires that all papers submitted include a title page, introduction, summary, and references.
