About Psychological Suggestibility

This post covers Psychological Suggestibility, as detailed below.

Imagine that you and a friend watched a movie together. You really loved it, but your friend makes a disgusted face and tells you that they hated it. Based on these nonverbal and verbal cues, you unconsciously change your opinion about the movie to better align with your friend. You respond, “Well, I kind of liked it a little bit, I guess.” You believe what you are saying is true. You now believe that you didn’t like the movie all that much. This is suggestibility in action!

Each and every day, you encounter circumstances, big and small, in which you may internally and unconsciously alter what you think, say, or do based on influence you perceive from others. Similarly, in the interviewing process, a suggestable interviewee may provide inaccurate statements or guesses, that they believe are true and regardless of the consequences, in response to the influence they perceive from you.
Post the following:

Describe an experience in which you, or someone you know, were influenced by suggestibility.
Explain the characteristics of suggestibility that were present in the situation.
Identify and explain which type(s) of suggestibility was present in the situation.
Note: Your posts should be substantial (350 words minimum), supported with scholarly evidence from your research and/or the Learning Resources, and properly cited using APA Style. Personal anecdotes are acceptable as part of a meaningful post but cannot stand alone as the entire post.
