School systems often differ greatly in how their students do on statewide assessments. In this exercise you will inspect different district-wide assessment data, note differences in the percentage of passing rates as well as differences in demographic data, and hypothesize reasons for the differences in assessment data. Directions: Create a table of the school population that you are investigating. The school population such as: the student ethnic make-up and the diverse learners (ELL & ESE Population); the teacher’s ethnic make-up. Create a survey to find out how teachers feel concerning “cultural diversity”. Write a proposal on how you would conduct an in-service training on cultural differences of the student population. What methods would you implement to help teachers become more culturally sensitive?
