• Critically discuss the provision of end of life care for adults in the context of socio-economic, societal and political influences
• Critically analyse the role of the nurse in providing culturally sensitive end of life care that is responsive to the needs of individuals, groups and communities
•  Critically appraise professional, legal and ethical aspects of end of life care
• Develop a critical understanding of pain and symptom management in the last days/hours of life
•  Define loss, grief and bereavement and ascertain appropriate therapeutic interventions when providing care before and after death
•   Critically reflect on professional experiences when caring for people at the end of life and recognise how professional values and assumptions may affect care delivery
