The DSM system of classification has not been around forever. Even once it was introduced we found reasons to modify/improve it over the years. From the research you’ve done on mental illness and diagnosis, provide some examples from history of what occurred pre-DSM (or in the earlier revisions of it) with regard to diagnosis and/or treatment of people with mental illness. This assignment should be one page long, and your examples should show how important it is to have some sort of ″system″ to help us in this process.
