An isolated system A initially consists of a deuterium molecule, D2 , and an oxygen atom, O, confined within a fixed volume V. e constituents of A are in a ground-energy state. As a result of a spontaneous fusion reaction between the two D atoms, the constituents of A are transformed into a tritium atom, T, a neutron, n, and an oxygen atom, O, that have an overall kinetic energy of 3.2 MeV.
