1. The journal should incorporate the student’s own ideas and interpretations with the topics presented to the class, and needs to be 3 pages long. Films the student watches should relate to a variety of fundamental topics—a movement, a director, a genre—introduced throughout the course. The journal must evidence breadth; that is, your films must all come from different historical periods and/or countries. Though the journal is written in your own subjective “voice,” you are required to incorporate relevant secondary research in at least two of the essays.
