Papers must be in TNR 12-point, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins, and 7-9 pages in length. You may use the referencing style of your choice.
Politics, economics, and culture are separate spheres of human life, and it is the role of the state to make sure they stay that way.
N.B. For the purposes of this question, culture can be taken to include any of the following: morality, religion, cultural norms/customs, and national identity.
Discuss with reference to two thinkers from each of the following groups (i.e. four thinkers total). You can refer to other thinkers, but you must discuss the main four properly.
Group 1: Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Smith, Bentham, Ricardo, Malthus, Wollstonecraft, and Mill
Group 2: Hegel, Marx, List, Anderson, Tocqueville, Polanyi, and Keynes
In your answer, state clearly:
(1) whether or not each theorist would agree with the statement and why;
(2) why they would agree/disagree with each other regarding this statement; and
(3) your own view on the validity of the statement.
