Chapters 25, 26 and 27 discuss the dilemmas of nation-state development during the 19th and early 20th centuries in the Asian, Pacific and Western Hemispheric regions.  The methods of development ranged from autocracy, religious reform movements, American Manifest Destiny to the Canadian evolutionary movement to self-governance. When looking at these various examples, one can confidently conclude that the Canadian model was the most successful, achieving a greater sense of demographic integration coupled with democratic freedoms and the equitable sharing of the Dominion’s commonwealth.
